2 (5oz) Top Sirloin Baseball Steak USDA Prime-629

You might not know it, but your favorite cut of beef has its very own day and it’s coming up fast. That’s right, August 13, 2017 is National Filet Mignon Day. While most people will mark the passing of this day by tossing a few filet steaks onto the grill, several of the country’s steakhouses are offering special deals and even bringing in live entertainment on the 13th. Last year one restaurant, Hoffbrau Steaks, went so far as to tell any customers that stopped in on August13 that filet mignon steaks were the only available entrée.

You can celebrate National Filet Mignon Steak Day by trying out a truly unique filet recipe. The final product is called Bloody Mary Filet Mignon Prime Steak. It’s the perfect culinary treat for when you have house guests. They’ll be impressed by how tender and flavorful the steak is, and by your cooking ingenuity.

The recipe was first created in an Indianapolis restaurant, but it’s something that’s easily made in the comfort of your own home.

What You Need

  • 4 6oz filet mignon prime steaks
  • ¼ cup of vodka-pepper flavored works best
  • 1 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon of black pepper-preferably freshly ground
  • 2 cups of your favorite tomato juice
  • 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lime juice
  • A small amount of olive oil
  • A pinch of salt
  • ½ teaspoon of celery salt
  • tbsp of horseradish-prepared or freshly grated
  • 1 teaspoon of your favorite hot sauce
  • Tomato-Horseradish Butter

Putting it All Together

Mix your vodka, tomato juice, 1 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce, lime juice, horseradish, celery salt, pepper, and hot sauce together. Once it’s thoroughly blended, place your filet mignon prime steaks in a glass backing dish and pour the marinade over them, making sure each steak is thoroughly coated.

This should be done a few hours prior to grilling your dinner. Cover the baking dish and put everything in the fridge, letting the steaks marinade for one or two hours. A half hour before you’re ready to really start cooking dinner, pull the steaks out of the fridge and let them warm to room temp.

As you wait for your grill to heat up, brush the grate with a light layer of oil which will prevent your filet mignon prime steaks from sticking to it. Drain the excess bloody Mary marinade from the beef filet steaks. Use a paper towel to pat away the excess moisture before coating them with a thin layer of olive oil.

Apply the just enough salt and pepper to season the meat and then grill to taste. When the filet stakes are done, plate them, add a dab of tomato-horseradish sauce, and serve.

This particular filet mignon prime steak recipe is best when served with lightly cooked and seasoned carrots, grilled artichoke hearts, Brussel sprouts, and olive appetizers.
